My Story

I will forever be a New Hampshire girl at heart, though I now live outside of Washington, D.C. with my black lab, Squirrel. I work as an analyst for a tech company where I clearly get to utilize my passion for art as well as my background in music.  Daily.   Everyone knows how excel spreadsheets lend themselves toward creativity and outside-the-cell thinking...

But this is where the Lord has placed me, and His purposes and plans can be seen woven through my story, though the thread can at times seem to disappear in the darkness of the fabric.

Something that I have learned - and am learning - through my decade in what is known as the "loneliest city in America" is that art is everywhere. It's in morning cups of coffee, quiet walks with the dog in the evening light, and midnight tears at the piano as I pour my heart out to the Lord using chord as my prayers.

D.C. is my mission field. I thought it would be an overseas slum. A brothel filled with hopelessness, yet not forgotten by God. Maybe even an audience for the 1,000 songs littered across every piece of paper I own. Instead, God called this Jonah not to "go" but to "stay."

So stay I shall.

It smells in here

like death and decay

Jonah did warn me

this happens when you run away

I wasn't to go

but rather to stay

too a heavy a burden

for a troubadour to pay

This is my Nineveh

all traffic and politics

hot air with cold shoulders

no straw for my bricks

This is my Nineveh

so hopeless, yet so rich

Oh say can you sea -

God's calling, "Go fish."
